November, 1939, of both the Falls City oil field in southeastern
Nebraska and the McLouth gas field in northeastern Kansas stimulated
drilling and provided greatly increased information in local areas, as
development of the Falls City oil field, but they occur also in
adjoining parts of Missouri and Kansas and in southwestern Iowa. Reed
(1946) has proposed the name Boice shale for this formation.
